The Indiana State Fair Theme for 2010 is “The Year of the Pig.” In keeping with the State Fair theme, the Lawrence County 4-H Exhibit Hall conducted a Piggy Bank Contest with entries either being constructed from scratch or purchased piggy banks decorated by the contestant. All piggy banks were to look like pigs. German American Bank sponsored the contest by awarding $100 to first place, $50 to second and $25 for third to a German American Bank savings account. The public then voted a penny per vote for their favorite piggy bank during the week. The money collected from the banks then was donated to the 4-H Exhibit Hall. On Saturday night each piggy bank was emptied and the money counted. The total money raised for the Exhibit Hall was $206.49. The winners of savings accounts are as follows:
1st Place: Adam Roberts with $30.71 raised.
2nd Place: Avery Anderson with $25.08 raised.
3rd Place: Macy Lambrecht with $20.51 raised.
German American Bank sponsored the event.
